There are various societies promoting the friendship and good relations between Germany and the single arab countries. The German-Yemeni Society is one of the oldest and most active organizations among them.

The German-Yemeni Society with its headquarter in Freiburg and several hundred members was founded in 1970 and had close ties to Yemen through all the time. As a non-profit organisation, it offers competent and reliable information for travellers and is a center of dialogue for experts and all kinds of people which are interested in Yemen with its beautiful landscape, botany and archtitecture, the great hospitality of its people, its exciting historic heritage etc. The society has organized guided tours for its members through the country, initiated care projects and is working as partner of other organisations which aim to intensify mutual understanding and strengthen the contacts between the two countries.
