The German-Yemenite Association

Welcome to our website. In the English version we just give a short description of our association. Relations between Germans and Yemenites have a long tradition. The German explorer Carsten Niebuhr was the first European traveller who came to the country in the 1760s. He also reached the harbour of Mocha, which played, as a center for coffee exports, a key role for the world trade since the 16th century. Friendship has continued until present times, independent from political developments. The German-Yemenite Association understands itself as a bridge and catalyst for these relations.
